SP New Energy Corporation (SPNEC), formerly known as Solar Philippines Nueva Ecija Corporation, is a renewable energy power generation company incorporated on November 23, 2016. The company is dedicated to the construction, assembly, operation, and maintenance of power-generating plants, warehouses, terminals, and related facilities aimed at converting renewable energy into electricity for distribution.
On October 24, 2022, SPNEC's corporate name was officially changed to reflect its expanded vision in the renewable energy sector.
SPNEC primarily generates electricity through its solar power plants, selling this energy via bilateral contracts with customers or directly to the spot market.
In a significant development, on August 22, 2017, the Department of Energy (DOE) awarded SPNEC’s affiliate, Solar Philippines Commercial Rooftop Projects, Inc. (SPCRPI), a solar energy service contract to exclusively explore and develop the Sta. Rosa Nueva Ecija 2 Solar Power Project, located in Santa Rosa, Peñaranda, and San Lorenzo, Nueva Ecija. Subsequently, on December 29, 2017, SPCRPI transferred all its rights and obligations under the service contract to SPNEC, a deed acknowledged and approved by the DOE in February 2018.
SPNEC operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Solar Philippines Power Project Holdings, Inc., part of the SP Group, which is an integrated developer, owner, and operator of solar power projects. As of April 17, 2023, SPNEC has not yet commenced commercial operations but remains poised for future growth in the renewable energy sector.
