Philippine Telegraph & Telephone Corp. (PTT) was incorporated on October 16, 1962 and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on November 14, 1962 as a diversified telecommunications entity catering to the corporate, small/medium business and residential segments across the nation.
On June 20, 1964, PTT was granted a 25-year national legislative franchise under Republic Act (RA) No. 4161 to engage in telecommunications activities. An amendment to the franchise was made in 1967 under RA 5048 granting the Company, among others, equal privileges against any competing franchise. PTT is operating under its current legislative franchise, RA 10894, which was issued on July 21, 2016. This allows the Company to operate as a telecommunications company for another 25-year period. Moreover, PTT’s corporate life was extended by the Securities and Exchange Commission for another 50 years in November 2012.
PTT listed on January 10, 1990 for the trading of its common shares but requested voluntary suspension of trading effective December 13, 2004.
